Are you going to take the challenge

A dear friend of mine recently posted a story on social media about a moment in her day that changed her outlook on being thankful for her blessings. Her post was really quite impactful.

A friend had phoned to tell her that his daughter had committed suicide. This was a total shock and quickly rocked the world of my dear friend.

Her comment was about how quick your life can change. This made me think of life and the lives of the many people that have been in the recent news and how quickly their lives had been turned upside down.

No matter what channel you watch, it does not take long until there is a story about hurt and pain. It can be easy for us to get caught up in this pain and despair and begin to lose hope.

It can be wise to turn off the television and unplug from social media for a while.

Yes, I know it is hard, inconvenient and for many of us even the thought of not checking our Facebook, Twitter, or Snapchat is enough to send waves of nausea coursing through our bodies. I would challenge you to try it. Take a media break a few times a week. Maybe start your day without the horrors of our local news, instead try some quiet time to reflect, meditate, or spend time in prayer. Have some conversation time in the evening with the ones you love. Take the time to get to know your family again. Our lives are too short to spend hours a day on your phone yet no time face to face with the people we love.

So with that said I dare you to take my challenge. I am on the journey with you so I’ll keep you updated on how this challenge is going at my house. Good luck my friends and until next time I hope you have a truly blessed day.
